This website is dedicated to the memory of
Scott Peoples and aims to celebrate his life.

It’s a central location for all who loved him, knew him and will miss him, enabling us to come together and show our respects to such a wonderful human being. So many of us were devastated by the news of the terrible and tragic accident and our hearts and thoughts go out to all those who were lucky enough to have met Scott at some point in their life. Everyone who knows Scott, knew what a remarkable person he was, and still is in our minds. Amazingly everyone he met, he made them feel so very special and important to him with just a quick flash of his smile.

About Scott Peoples

Scott PeoplesScott had a passion for cycling at a very early age, although small in size he had a large heart. He never excelled at first attempts but always put in 100% and always made sure he finished his races, sometimes even after most people had packed up and gone home.

This didn’t deter him, he never gave up trying , rain, hail or shine he completed his training programs. He focussed on what he was eating and putting into his body and most importantly (to him) Scott started to grow, not only in size but also in stature.

At this stage Scott gave track cycling away and began concentrating on road racing. He excelled at climbing the mountains - that’s what he loved to do - and spent many hours training in the hills. Scott achieved many of his goals during 2006. His hard work had finally started achieving results:

  • 5th Australian Grandprix time trial
  • 8th Australian Grandprix Road race
  • 1st overall, Tour of Bendigo
  • 5th stage 3, Herald Sun Tour Cat 2.1
  • 21st overall, Herald Sun Tour 2.1
  • 3rd overall, Tour of Tasmania
  • 2nd stage 2, Tour of Southland, New Zealand Cat 2.5
  • 1st Stage 4, Tour of Southland, New Zealand Cat 2.5
  • 1st Stage 7, Tour of Southland, New Zealand Cat 2.5
  • Full Scholarship into the Victorian Institute of Sport

All in 12 months. Two days after Scott was tragically taken from us, we learnt that he had fulfilled his dream, he had been contracted to ride in Europe in 2007 for the Milram Team, a dream he had reached but would never fulfil.

The Scott Peoples Foundation has been set up in Scott’s honour to assist other young riders like Scott who also have a dream.  Perhaps the foundation can assist in making that dream come true.     A day about 18 months ago I remember how I felt after I heard the worst news of my life, and to this day I would do anything to change the course of events that occurred on the 15th of December 2006. We lost such a wonderful guy, friend and an awesome brother. Everyone remembers Scotty for sometimes very different reasons, but a few things never changed, like his motivation, love for cycling and achieving.  His humour which sometimes shone through at the tense of times and his relationships with his family and friends which no one will ever forget.  He had the most incredible way of putting a positive spin of just about every situation no matter how terrible, this made him the most incredible person to be around and to know.
